Planning a visit to Durham

Duke’s campus is only a 20-minute drive from Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU). For information on taxi service and other ground transportation options, please visit RDU’s website. The public transportation options that could be used to go between RDU and Durham include GO Triangle and GO Durham. The Department of Political Science is located on the 2nd floor of Gross Hall, and Duke University has a map dedicated to all our campus buildings.

Duke has two on-campus hotels that are walking distance from central campus: the Washington Duke Inn and the J.B. Duke Hotel. Downtown Durham offers exceptional hotels only a short commute, these include The Durham Hotel, 21C the Museum Hotel, and Aloft Marriott.

Dinning on campus is quite nice in the renovated Brodhead Center (West Union). The Commons at West Union offers a quiet, beautiful, elevated view of campus. The Devil's Krafthouse in the lowest floor of West Union offers drinks and is one of the few places open late into the evening on campus. There are many highly regarded restaurants in the local Durham community, visit Discover Durham's top-rated restaurants here.

On campus, there are a couple celebrated destinations worth exploring, including the Nasher Museum, the Duke Gardens, Duke Performances, and Duke Athletics. Depending on the length of your stay, Durham will have a variety of cultural and performance events worth exploring and enjoying. Visit the Discover Durham events page here.
