George Washington University Summer Conference Housing

Thurston Hall

1900 F Street, NW

Washington, DC 20052

Additional accommodations are available at the George Washington University dorms in Thurston Hall, situated in the Foggy Bottom campus of GW. Located in downtown Washington, DC, Thurston Hall is a 9 minute walk to the Farragut West Metro Station (.4 miles), a 10 minute walk to the White House, and an 11 minute walk to the Foggy Bottom Metro Station (.6 miles). It is just a few stops away from the Clarendon and Virginia Square metro stations, to our conference venue.

Residing in Thurston Hall will put you right in the heart of Washington, DC.

All participants of the PolNet conference can take advantage of this affordable housing option. You do not need to be a student. When you submit your registration for the conference, please be sure to indicate your interest in dormitory housing.

A campus map of Foggy Bottom can be found here.

All rooms in Thurston Hall are partially furnished. Linens (1 pillow, 1 pillowcase, 1 sheet, 1 blanket) and basic bathroom amenities (two towels, hand soap, and toilet paper) are provided. Please review this website for what is included in your stay (and what you should and should not pack).

All participants will be placed in 4-6 person rooms with a limited availability of 2-3 person rooms. It's important to keep in mind that these are shared units which will be arranged on a first come, first serve basis. The conference host team will be responsible for room assignments, pairing roommates and collecting any requests for room pairings. The building and halls are co-ed, but rooms may have both co-ed and single gender options.

The cost for this option is $280 (+$17.66 fee) for the entire 5-night stay of the conference. To take advantage of this option, please take the following steps:

  1. Register for the conference
  2. Complete this Thurston Hall reservation form. Upon completion of the form, you’ll receive an access code.
  3. Go to https://www.eventbrite.com/e/11th-annual-political-networks-conference-and-workshops-tickets-42949381757
  4. Select "TICKETS" and in the upper right select "Enter promotional code."
  5. Enter the access code you received after completing the Thurston Hall reservation form and select the ticket for “GW dormitory.” Complete your payment.

Check-in will take place after 3:00pm on Tuesday, June 5. A GW Housing Representative will be available at Thurston Hall to distribute the keys for our group from 3:00pm to 6:00pm. We recommend you make your travel arrangements accordingly. If you plan on arriving after 6pm, you may pick up your keys at the GW Summer Guest Services Office located at Philip Amsterdam Hall (on 24th Street), which is on the other side of campus. Please be sure to inform our conference team if you plan on arriving after 11pm. Keys will need to be returned to Amsterdam Hall around 11:00 am, Sunday, June 10th.

More attractions near Thurston Hall, building and floor plans, and room pictures can be found here.

Details on housing arrangements will be provided in the coming weeks.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding GW dormitory housing, please contact polinetworksconference@gmail.com or the host committee.
